The Texana Foundation is a Texas non-profit corporation qualified under IRS Section 501(c)(3) and dedicated to encouraging interest and excellence in Texas non-fiction.

Formed in 2007, the foundation is funded through public and private contributions, grants, event revenues and book sales.

It is the owner of Mockingbird Books, a publisher of Texas non-fiction, and is the sponsor of Texas Non-Fiction Writers, which supports writers with networking, newsletters and conferences. The foundation also coaches writers (including young writers) and hosts innovative book events that explore the rich heritage and culture of Texas.

The foundation's managing members are Jefferson Morgenthaler and Jeanne Buchanan.

We do not offer individual memberships in the foundation, but encourage people interested in our goals to join Texas Non-Fiction Writers, our affiliated writers' group.
